UNI Finishes Day Three At The MVC Championships

CARBONDALE, Ill.-- The University of Northern Iowa competed in day three of the MVC Championships. The Panthers sit in third place. Â
Records were shattered and qualifying times were reached.Â
Veronica Herrmann took home first place in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1 minute and one second and 99 hundreths of a second. Herrmann is eligible to be invited to the NCAA Swimming Championships. Â
The Panther squad of Madison Rinaldi, Veronica Herrmann, Crystal Florman, and Aftin Phyfe broke the 400 Medley Relay school record by six seconds for a second place finishing time of 3:44.83. Â
Molly Lembezeder shattered her 200 Freestyle record, with a final time of 1:51.42. Lembezeder took fourth place.Â
Crystal Florman broke the 100 Butterfly with a time of 56.22. Taylor Ostrowski and Kelsey Ostrowski followed with times of 57.69 and 57.74. Â
Stephanie Jackson nabbed fifth place in the 400 IM, breaking her personal record. Jackson swam a time of 4:28.38. Madison Rinaldi made the Top-10 with a time of 4:30.98.Â
In the 200 Freestyle, Rachel Siebenaller slipped into the Top-10 with a time of 1:52.82. Shelby Holmes, Maya Appleton and Sierra Sachtjen were all in the Top-15 with times of 1:54.85, 1:56.60 and 1:56.92.Â
Autumn Roepsch and Olivia Knowles each made the Top-8 in the 100 Breaststroke with times of 1;04.41 and 1:05.58.Â
Aftin Phyfe and Madison Rinaldi took Top-8 finishes in the 100 Backstroke. Phyfe swam a 56.73 and Rinaldi swam a 1:00.35.Â
Hannah Brummel won the consolation of the 3-meter diving. Allie Bey, Sarah Kemp and Alyssa Deuso will compete tomorrow in the 3-meter diving finals. Â
"Today was a perfect storm. Everything that could go right, did go right," said Head Coach Doug Humphrey. Â
Action resumes tomorrow morning at 10Â a.m. with preliminaries and finals at 4 p.m.Â
