UNI Continues Strong Performance AT MVC Championships

CARBONDALE, Ill. —The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team wrapped up day two of competition at the MVC Championships in Carbondale, Illinois. The Panthers sit comfortably in third place.Â
The Panthers took home two first place finishes in today's competitions, including breaking a school.  Â
Sophomore Molly Lembezeder continued to show her dominance in the pool and took home first place in the 50 Freestyle, with a time of 23.16. Lembezeder was 28 hundredths of a second faster than the runner up. Â
Lembezeder teamed up with Crystal Florman, Autumn Roepsch and Rachel Siebenaller to take home first in the 200 Freestyle Relay, with a time of 1:33.41. The time was almost good enough to break a pool record. Â
Crystal Florman swam a time of 23.45 in the 50 Freestyle and took third place. Autumn Roepsch took sixth in the 50 Freestyle and timed in at 23.90.Â
Rachel Siebenaller slipped into the Top-10 in the 500 Freestyle with a finishing time of 5:00.59. Stephanie Jackson joined Siebenaller in the Top-15 with a time of 5:03.59.Â
Aftin Phyfe and Veronica Herrmann both received Top-20 spots in the 200 IM. Phyfe swam a time of 2:07.29 and Herrmann swam a time of 2:09.13Â
In diving, Sarah Kemp and Allie Bey took Top-8 finishes in the 1-meter dives today. Kemp had a score of 243.25 for fourth place and Bey followed in fifth with a score of 242.85. Hannah Brummel won the consolation round of diving with a score of 217.05 and Alyssa Deuso followed at 212.90. Â
Head Coach Doug Humphrey and Diving Coach Lori Meierbachtol were both pleased with the effort the team has shown and said, "the best days are still to come". Â
