Panthers Start Strong At MVC Championships

CARBONDALE, Ill.--The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team kicked off competition today at the MVC Championships in Carbondale, Illinois. Â
The Panther squad of Madison Rinaldi, Veronica Herrmann, Crystal Florman and Molly Lembezeder took home first place in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:42.37.Â
Lembezeder teamed up with Aftin Phyfe, Sierra Sachtjen and Rachel Siebenaller for a third place finish in the 800 Freestyle Relay. The squad swam a time of 7:27.70.Â
"Today was a great start. In recent years, we haven't had anyone on the podium after the first day and now we are tied for first," said Head Coach Doug Humphrey Â
Action for the Panthers resumes at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 18 with preliminaries in the 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle, 1-Meter Diving.Â
