Panthers Set to Open 2016 Play at UNI-Dome Classic

The University of Northern Iowa softball team is set to open their 2016 season at the Ramada UNI-Dome Classic on Friday. The Ramada UNI-Dome Classic features the Panthers as well as Missouri Valley Conference opponent Drake along with Saint Louis, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Western Illinois, Nebraska, and South Dakota State. There are 18 games scheduled for the tournament that begins on Feb. 12 and ends on Feb. 14.

The Panthers will open up play on Friday afternoon when they take on Big Ten opponent Nebraska at 2:45 p.m in the third game of the day before wrapping up opening day play against Saint Louis at 7:15 p.m. On Saturday, UNI will play the final two contests of the day beginning with a matchup against Green Bay at 7:15 p.m., who is returning to the UNI-Dome Classic for the second straight year and split a pair of close games with the Panthers last season.

UNI will wrap up play on Sunday with an afternoon contest against South Dakota State beginning at 2:45 p.m. before playing the final game of the 2016 tournament at 7:15 p.m. that evening against Western Illinois.
