UNI MEETS UP WITH EVANSVILLE FOR FIRST TIME IN 2015-16
UNI (12-11, 4-6 MVC) will play its second straight game in the McLeod Center when the Panthers play host to the Evansville Purple Aces (18-5, 7-3 MVC) Wednesday at 6 p.m.
   The Panthers completed non-conference play at 8-5 overall. UNI posted two top-five wins in non-conference play with triumphs over No. 1 North Carolina (71-67) and No. 5 Iowa State (81-79).Â

SCOUTING EVANSVILLE
Evansville is tied for second place in the MVC standings with a 7-3 league mark. The Purple Aces have dropped two of their last three outings.
   Evansville is led by D.J. Balentine (21.1 ppg), Egidijus Mockevicius (16.7 ppg, 14.1 rpg) and Jaylon Brown (11.2 ppg).

Senior guards Matt Bohannon and Wes Washpun have fared well against Evansville during their collegiate careers.
   Bohannon has scored 56 points and drained 17-of-32 three-pointers in six games against the Purple Aces.
   Washpun is averaging 8.5 points per game in four career matchups vs. Evansville.
BACK-TO-BACK WINS
UNI captured back-to-back wins for the first time since Nov. 30 with its victories over Bradley (68-50) and Southern Illinois (67-58).Â
   UNI began the season at 5-1 with five straight victories, but had not strung together two straight wins since a 93-70 triumph over North Texas on Nov. 30.
ANOTHER COMEBACK WIN
For the second time this season, UNI overcame a double-digit deficit to come back and score a victory.
   UNI trailed North Carolina by 16 points at 50-34 with 17:10 left in the game. UNI used a 22-4 run to take a 56-54 lead with 9:17 left in the game. The Panthers would take down the Tar Heels, 71-67.
   The Panthers trailed the SIU Salukis Sunday by 11 points at 23-12 with 6:27 left in the first half. UNI would use a 15-2 run to take a 27-25 lead with 1:18 left in the first half. UNI eventually scored a 67-58 victory over SIU.
SEASON HIGH IN BLOCKS
UNI recorded a season-high six blocks in its 67-58 win over Southern Illinois (1/31).Â
   It marks the second straight game that UNI has set a season-high in blocks. The Panthers also blocked five shots in their 68-50 win at Bradley (1/27).
HIGHS AND LOWS FROM 3
Just four days after setting its season with by making 15 three-pointers at Bradley, UNI came back with a season-low three three-pointers in a victory at home over Southern Illinois on Sunday.
   UNI leads the Missouri Valley Conference in three-pointers made (198).
ONLY THREE TRIPLES?
UNI saw its streak of 39 consecutive games with at least four three-pointers made snapped when the Panthers made only a trio of three-pointers against Southern Illinois.
   The last time UNI made less than four three-pointers came Jan. 18, 2015, in the McLeod Center when the Panthers made three three-pointers in a 60-46 victory over Missouri State.
30 TRIPS TO THE FOUL LINE
UNI collected a season-high 30 free throw attempts against SIU.
   It is the most free throws attempted by the Panthers since they shot 34 last year against George Mason (12/6/2014) in the McLeod Center.
   On the season, UNI has made 295 free throws, while its opponents have attempted 299 free throws.
KOCH NOTCHES FIRST CAREER DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Sophomore center Bennett Koch recorded his first career double-double with a trifecta of career-highs in points (22), rebounds (11) and blocks (3) in a 67-58 win over Southern Illinois.Â
   Koch drained 8-of-9 field goals against the Salukis - including a perfect 6-of-6 in the second half. Koch is averaging 11.1 points per game in Missouri Valley Conference play.

JESPERSON TIES SINGLE-GAME MARK FOR MADE TRIPLES
Senior guard Paul Jesperson lit up the nets at Carver Arena by tying a UNI single-game record with eight made three-pointers and a career-high 28 points vs. the Bradley Braves (1/27). Jesperson drained 8-of-11 three-point shots vs. the Braves.
   Jesperson's eight made three-pointers ties him with Cam Johnson, who also knocked in eight three-pointers vs. Drake in Des Moines on Feb. 12, 1994. Johnson was 8-of-13 from three-point land against the Bulldogs that night.
   Jesperson's eight made three-pointers in a single game ranks tied for No. 14 in the country this season.
MORGAN IS MAKING PLAYS
Junior guard Jeremy Morgan has shown he can do it all this season from scoring and rebounding to defending.
   Morgan ranks first on the team in rebounds (115), steals (46) and blocks (13). He ranks fourth on the team in scoring (10.0 ppg).
   Morgan recorded a career-high seven steals at Bradley (1/27). The seven steals is the most by a UNI Panther in a Missouri Valley Conference game since Andy Woodley tallied eight steals vs. Southern Illinois (2/17/01).
   His seven steals vs. Bradley ranks tied for No. 9 in the nation in a single game this season.
   Morgan's steal of Joel Berry II's pass with :08 left and ensuing free throw helped clinch UNI's 71-67 victory over No. 1 North Carolina (Nov. 21).

WINNING WAYS AT MCLEOD
The McLeod Center will celebrate its 10th anniversary this season and the Panthers have made winning a priority in their home venue.
   UNI has posted an all-time mark of 120-31 (.795) in games played in the McLeod Center. UNI is 65-21 in MVC games in the McLeod Center.
   UNI secured a school-record 16 home wins in the 2012-13 season. The previous mark of 15 home wins was set in the 1989-90 season.Â
   UNI has posted a trio of perfect home seasons since moving to NCAA Division I. UNI was a perfect 14-0 in both the 1983-84 and 2009-10 seasons and then UNI notched a 15-0 mark at home last season.
   UNI set its home-court win streak of 21 consecutive victories between the 2008-09 and 2010-11 seasons.
   The McLeod Center opened in November 2006.

UNI MBB IN APR TOP-10 PERCENTÂ
The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, women's cross country and women's volleyball teams have been recognized by the NCAA for their latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. These teams posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports.
   The UNI men's basketball team has been recognized with a perfect APR score (1,000) in each of the last three seasons - the only MVC school to do that in each of the past three years.
   The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
MBB INKS 3 IN EARLY SIGNING
UNI has announced the signing of Isaiah Brown, Tanner Lohaus, Juwan McCloud to National Letters-of-Intent to play for UNI Beginning in 2016-17.
   Brown (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS) is a 6'5", 170-pound, guard from Flower Mound, Texas. Brown averaged 14 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals as a junior at Flower Mound High School for head coach Eric Littleton. Flower Mound finished third in their district in 2014-15. He earned second-team all-district honors as a junior. He is the No. 25-ranked recruit in the 2016 recruiting class in the state of Texas according to Texas Hoops. He played AUU ball for Marcus Smart YGC36 for head coach Vonzell Thomas. He is the son of Craig and Sophia Brown. He has two siblings, Landon (10) and Maliyah (2).
   Lohaus (North Liberty, Iowa/Iowa City West HS) is a 6'7" 205-pound forward. Lohaus helped Iowa City West to the 2014 state championship for head coach Steve Bergman and a 23-3 record. Lohaus guided Iowa City West to a third-place finish in the 2015 state tournament with a 25-1 record. As a junior, Lohaus averaged 11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He earned second-team all-Mississippi Valley Conference honors as a junior. He is the son of Anne Lohaus and Brad Lohaus. He is the younger brother of UNI sophomore guard Wyatt Lohaus.
   Juwan McCloud (Germantown, Wis./Germantown HS) is a 5'11" 150-pound guard. McCloud was named the North Shore Conference player of the year after helping lead the Warhawks to their sixth consecutive league crown. McCloud led Germantown HS to the Division I state championship game as a junior. He averaged 16.7 points per game as Germantown posted a mark of 27-1 in 2014-15 for then head coach Steve Showalter. McCloud played AAU with the Wisconsin Swing coached by Justin Litscher. He is the son of Brian and Mellisa McCloud. He has an older brother, Jalen.

   Bohannon has scored 56 points and drained 17-of-32 three-pointers in six games against the Purple Aces.
   Washpun is averaging 8.5 points per game in four career matchups vs. Evansville.
BACK-TO-BACK WINS
UNI captured back-to-back wins for the first time since Nov. 30 with its victories over Bradley (68-50) and Southern Illinois (67-58).Â
   UNI began the season at 5-1 with five straight victories, but had not strung together two straight wins since a 93-70 triumph over North Texas on Nov. 30.
ANOTHER COMEBACK WIN
For the second time this season, UNI overcame a double-digit deficit to come back and score a victory.
   UNI trailed North Carolina by 16 points at 50-34 with 17:10 left in the game. UNI used a 22-4 run to take a 56-54 lead with 9:17 left in the game. The Panthers would take down the Tar Heels, 71-67.
   The Panthers trailed the SIU Salukis Sunday by 11 points at 23-12 with 6:27 left in the first half. UNI would use a 15-2 run to take a 27-25 lead with 1:18 left in the first half. UNI eventually scored a 67-58 victory over SIU.
SEASON HIGH IN BLOCKS
UNI recorded a season-high six blocks in its 67-58 win over Southern Illinois (1/31).Â
   It marks the second straight game that UNI has set a season-high in blocks. The Panthers also blocked five shots in their 68-50 win at Bradley (1/27).
HIGHS AND LOWS FROM 3
Just four days after setting its season with by making 15 three-pointers at Bradley, UNI came back with a season-low three three-pointers in a victory at home over Southern Illinois on Sunday.
   UNI leads the Missouri Valley Conference in three-pointers made (198).
ONLY THREE TRIPLES?
UNI saw its streak of 39 consecutive games with at least four three-pointers made snapped when the Panthers made only a trio of three-pointers against Southern Illinois.
   The last time UNI made less than four three-pointers came Jan. 18, 2015, in the McLeod Center when the Panthers made three three-pointers in a 60-46 victory over Missouri State.
30 TRIPS TO THE FOUL LINE
UNI collected a season-high 30 free throw attempts against SIU.
   It is the most free throws attempted by the Panthers since they shot 34 last year against George Mason (12/6/2014) in the McLeod Center.

JESPERSON TIES SINGLE-GAME MARK FOR MADE TRIPLES
Senior guard Paul Jesperson lit up the nets at Carver Arena by tying a UNI single-game record with eight made three-pointers and a career-high 28 points vs. the Bradley Braves (1/27). Jesperson drained 8-of-11 three-point shots vs. the Braves.
   Jesperson's eight made three-pointers ties him with Cam Johnson, who also knocked in eight three-pointers vs. Drake in Des Moines on Feb. 12, 1994. Johnson was 8-of-13 from three-point land against the Bulldogs that night.
   Jesperson's eight made three-pointers in a single game ranks tied for No. 14 in the country this season.
MORGAN IS MAKING PLAYS
Junior guard Jeremy Morgan has shown he can do it all this season from scoring and rebounding to defending.
   Morgan ranks first on the team in rebounds (115), steals (46) and blocks (13). He ranks fourth on the team in scoring (10.0 ppg).
   Morgan recorded a career-high seven steals at Bradley (1/27). The seven steals is the most by a UNI Panther in a Missouri Valley Conference game since Andy Woodley tallied eight steals vs. Southern Illinois (2/17/01).
   His seven steals vs. Bradley ranks tied for No. 9 in the nation in a single game this season.
   Morgan's steal of Joel Berry II's pass with :08 left and ensuing free throw helped clinch UNI's 71-67 victory over No. 1 North Carolina (Nov. 21).

The McLeod Center will celebrate its 10th anniversary this season and the Panthers have made winning a priority in their home venue.
   UNI has posted an all-time mark of 120-31 (.795) in games played in the McLeod Center. UNI is 65-21 in MVC games in the McLeod Center.
   UNI secured a school-record 16 home wins in the 2012-13 season. The previous mark of 15 home wins was set in the 1989-90 season.Â
   UNI has posted a trio of perfect home seasons since moving to NCAA Division I. UNI was a perfect 14-0 in both the 1983-84 and 2009-10 seasons and then UNI notched a 15-0 mark at home last season.

UNI MBB IN APR TOP-10 PERCENTÂ
The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, women's cross country and women's volleyball teams have been recognized by the NCAA for their latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. These teams posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports.
   The UNI men's basketball team has been recognized with a perfect APR score (1,000) in each of the last three seasons - the only MVC school to do that in each of the past three years.
   The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
MBB INKS 3 IN EARLY SIGNING
UNI has announced the signing of Isaiah Brown, Tanner Lohaus, Juwan McCloud to National Letters-of-Intent to play for UNI Beginning in 2016-17.
   Brown (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS) is a 6'5", 170-pound, guard from Flower Mound, Texas. Brown averaged 14 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals as a junior at Flower Mound High School for head coach Eric Littleton. Flower Mound finished third in their district in 2014-15. He earned second-team all-district honors as a junior. He is the No. 25-ranked recruit in the 2016 recruiting class in the state of Texas according to Texas Hoops. He played AUU ball for Marcus Smart YGC36 for head coach Vonzell Thomas. He is the son of Craig and Sophia Brown. He has two siblings, Landon (10) and Maliyah (2).
   Lohaus (North Liberty, Iowa/Iowa City West HS) is a 6'7" 205-pound forward. Lohaus helped Iowa City West to the 2014 state championship for head coach Steve Bergman and a 23-3 record. Lohaus guided Iowa City West to a third-place finish in the 2015 state tournament with a 25-1 record. As a junior, Lohaus averaged 11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He earned second-team all-Mississippi Valley Conference honors as a junior. He is the son of Anne Lohaus and Brad Lohaus. He is the younger brother of UNI sophomore guard Wyatt Lohaus.
   Juwan McCloud (Germantown, Wis./Germantown HS) is a 5'11" 150-pound guard. McCloud was named the North Shore Conference player of the year after helping lead the Warhawks to their sixth consecutive league crown. McCloud led Germantown HS to the Division I state championship game as a junior. He averaged 16.7 points per game as Germantown posted a mark of 27-1 in 2014-15 for then head coach Steve Showalter. McCloud played AAU with the Wisconsin Swing coached by Justin Litscher. He is the son of Brian and Mellisa McCloud. He has an older brother, Jalen.
