Schult Named To Hero Sports All-America First-Team

HERO SPORTS - Defensive lineman Karter Schult has earned a spot on the 2016 Hero Sports FCS All-America first-team, it was announced today.
Schult was also voted Hero Sports FCS Defensive Player of the Year, his third player of the year honor this season. He also earned College Sports Madness Defensive Player of the Year and Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
The Tripoli, Iowa, native has landed on multiple All-America teams this year, including AP, AFCA, ADA, STATS and Walter Camp, earning him a place at the 92nd East-West Shrine Bowl in January. The recent graduate had a standout senior campaign, starting all 11 games for the Panthers, finishing the season leading Division I football in sacks (17.0).
He recorded 69 tackles that included 24.0 for loss of yards, setting a new single-season record for the Panthers. He is second all-time in single-season sacks with his 17.0 and is also the career record holder for tackles for loss (56.0) and quarterback hurries (20). Off the field, Schult was a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy and became a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Currently, Schult is a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, given to the best defensive player in FCS Football. He is one of three finalists that have been invited to the FCS Awards Dinner on Jan. 6 where the winner will be announced.
