Campbell Earns Hero Sports All-Sophomore Team

HERO SPORTS - Defensive back Elijah Campbell has earned a spot on the Hero Sports 2016 FCS Sophomore All-America first-team, it was announced today.
The team is chosen by the Hero Sports staff and is in its first year as part of the All-America recognition across the country. This is Campbell's first All-America honor after his first season with the Panthers. The St. Paul, Minn., native transferred to UNI from Northern Illinois University.
Campbell quickly made an impact for the Panthers on the defensive side of the ball, starting all 11 games at cornerback. He finished 2016 with 34 solo and eight assisted tackles.
He racked up three interceptions in consecutive weeks against Missouri State, North Dakota State and Indiana State, returning his pick against the Bears 42 yards to the end zone. He ended up with 70 interception return yards to finish second on the team in picks and 10th in the Valley while also ranking third in the MVFC in fumbles recovered (2).
Along with his sophomore All-America honor, Campbell also earned MVFC All-Newcomer Team honors along with being named to the All-MVFC second-team.
