The Basics: The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team will take on Missouri State on Dec. 30 in Springfield followed by a battle against Wichita State on Jan. 1 to bring in the New Year to start conference play. Both games will air live on ESPN3.

• Madison Weekly is one of just six players in UNI history to score 200+ three-point field goals, ranking No. 3 all-time with 215.
• Both of UNI's starting forwards rank in the top-10 in the Valley in rebounding with Hannah Schonhardt (7.7 rpg) at No. 5 and Megan Maahs (5.7 rpg) at No. 9.
• UNI ranks 20th in NCAA Division I women's basketball in turnovers per game, only averaging 13.2.
• UNI and defending National Champions UCONN currently have something in common in being the only two teams in the country to defeat Kansas State.
• Head coach Tanya Warren holds an overall record of 169-134 in her 10th season at UNI.

About the Lady Bears: Missouri State enters the game against UNI 4-7 overall. Like the Panthers, the Lady Bears' schedule was full of power five opponents from the Big 12, SEC and Big 10 with two of their wins coming against Kansas and Arkansas. MSU is lead by senior Liza Fruendt who is averaging 13.9 points per game while ranking in the top-40 in the country in free throw percentage (87.5%).

Conference Openers: The Panthers are 9-15 all-time in Missouri Valley Conference openers. UNI is 5-4 in conference openers under the direction of Tanya Warren.

MVC Player of the Week (Dec. 26): Senior Madison Weekly was named MVC Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in UNI's win over #24 Kansas State (12/22).

Coincidence: Since the MVC began sponsoring women's basketball in 1992, UNI has claimed three top-25 wins over non-conference opponents, all against No. 24-ranked teams. UNI also defeated No. 24 Illinois in 2000 and No. 24 Iowa State in 2002 along with its win over No. 24 Kansas State this season.

Only Two: Kansas State has only lost to two teams this season, the Panthers and defending National Champion UCONN.

Getting to the Board: Kansas State had an average height of 6-1 on its roster, bringing a height advantage into the McLeod Center (12/22), but UNI won the rebounding battle 36-35.

From the Three: Madison Weekly knocked down a season-high five three-pointers against Kansas State (12/22). The team drained 13 total, a season-high.

On the Block, to the Board: Senior Hannah Schonhardt finished the game with a double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds and scoring 14 points. It was her second double-double of the season and eighth of her career.

Dimes: Madison Weekly finished the game against Kansas State (12/22) with a career-high eight assists. She ranks third in the Valley in assists, averaging 4.2 per game.

Leading Scorer: Madison Weekly has scored in the 20-point range four times this season, including her 20 points in UNI's win over Kansas State (12/22). It was the 25th time in her career to reach the mark. Her career-high of 28 points was set twice in 2016 (at Missouri State, 1/10/16 | vs. Southern Illinois, 1/3/16).

Shooting for 1,500: With her 20 points against Kansas State (12/22), Madison Weekly moved into sixth all-time in career points. She now has 1,441 through 103 games.She passed Lizzie Boeck who had 1,405 from 2007-11.

Strong Non-Con: With UNI's 67-59 win over #24 Kansas State (12/22), the Panthers finished non-conference season above .500. It is the third time in program history UNI has finished non-conference at .500, with all three happening in the Tanya Warren era.

Ranked Opponents: Kansas State entered the game against UNI (12/22) ranked 24th in the AP Poll, making it the sixth ranked team UNI has faced in the Tanya Warren era. Prior to UNI's win over the Wildcats on Dec. 22, the last time UNI beat a top-25 team was in 2014 when they defeated No. 24 Wichita State in the McLeod Center, 80-71.
