The Basics: The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team will take on Missouri State on Dec. 30 in Springfield followed by a battle against Wichita State on Jan. 1 to bring in the New Year to start conference play. Both games will air live on ESPN3.

• Madison Weekly is one of just six players in UNI history to score 200+ three-point field goals, ranking No. 3 all-time with 215.
• Both of UNI's starting forwards rank in the top-10 in the Valley in rebounding with Hannah Schonhardt (7.7 rpg) at No. 5 and Megan Maahs (5.7 rpg) at No. 9.

About the Lady Bears: Missouri State enters the game against UNI 4-7 overall. Like the Panthers, the Lady Bears' schedule was full of power five opponents from the Big 12, SEC and Big 10 with two of their wins coming against Kansas and Arkansas. MSU is lead by senior Liza Fruendt who is averaging 13.9 points per game while ranking in the top-40 in the country in free throw percentage (87.5%).
Conference Openers: The Panthers are 9-15 all-time in Missouri Valley Conference openers. UNI is 5-4 in conference openers under the direction of Tanya Warren.
MVC Player of the Week (Dec. 26): Senior Madison Weekly was named MVC Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in UNI's win over #24 Kansas State (12/22).
Coincidence: Since the MVC began sponsoring women's basketball in 1992, UNI has claimed three top-25 wins over non-conference opponents, all against No. 24-ranked teams. UNI also defeated No. 24 Illinois in 2000 and No. 24 Iowa State in 2002 along with its win over No. 24 Kansas State this season.
Only Two: Kansas State has only lost to two teams this season, the Panthers and defending National Champion UCONN.
Getting to the Board: Kansas State had an average height of 6-1 on its roster, bringing a height advantage into the McLeod Center (12/22), but UNI won the rebounding battle 36-35.
