Records Continue to Fall at UNO Invite

Results
Omaha, Nebraska--Records continue to fall today at the UNO/Mutual of Omaha Invitational for the UNI Swimming and Diving squad. The Panthers had 708 points to secure a first place standings.
Freshman Katie Taylor continues to break records in both individual and relay events. Taylor came close to the school record in the 400 IM, timing in at four minutes, twenty-five seconds and forty-nine hundredths of a second for a first place finish. Taylor also nabbed a first place finish in the 100 backstroke, timing in at 55.96.
Taylor would team up with Autumn Roepsch, Crystal Florman and Molly Lembezeder for a first place finish in the 400 medley relay, timing in at 3:48.06. The Panther squad created a new record in that event, edging out the previous time by less than a second.
Lembezeder, Taylor, Aftin Phyfe and Rachel Siebenaller would team up for a first place finish in the 800 freestyle relay, timing in at 7:33.93.
The Panthers would go first-second-third in two events during competition today. Lembezeder, Phyfe and Siebenaller would go first-second-third in the 200 freestyle. Lembezeder timed in at 1:52.71, Phyfe at 1:52.89 and Siebenaller at 1:53.49.
The 100 backstroke would also see a first-second-third place finish by the Panthers. Veronica Herrmann led the pack, timing in at 1:04.82. Moriah Ross came in second place with a time of 1:05.05. Roepsch rounded the group out, coming in at 1:05.21.
The Panthers would also take second place in the 400 medley relay and the 800 freestyle. Madison Rinaldi, Kelsey Ostrowski, Herrmann and Siebenaller would team up for a second place finish in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:52.79.
Kylie Engstrom, Jordan McCullough, Maya Appleton and Florman swam for a combined time of 7:43.62 in the 800 freestyle relay, grabbing second place.
Stephanie Jackson would swim to second place in the 400 IM, grabbing a time of 4:33.55.
Phyfe and Rinaldi would take third and fourth places in the 100 backstroke. Phyfe swam to a time of 58.51 and Rinaldi swam to a time of 58.53.
Diving
The swimmers weren't the only ones shattering records. Diver Alyssa Deuso shattered her personal record on the 1-meter dives, diving a 229.45. Hannah Brummel followed with a dive score of 225.50.
Action begins at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the HPER Pool.
