Schult Tabbed Walter Camp All-American

NEW HAVEN, CT – Senior defensive lineman Karter Schult has been named to the 2016 Walter Camp FCS All-America Team, it was announced today.
Schult is UNI's 17th selection in program history to the Walter Camp All-America squad, including getting back-to-back selections with Deiondre' Hall landing on the team in 2015. This is Schult's second All-America honor today, also earning AFCA FCS All-America first-team.
The team was selected by head coaches and sports information directors of the FCS. Student-athletes from 11 different conferences and 22 institutions are represented on the 2016 Walter Camp FCS All-America Team. The Missouri Valley Conference has the most honorees with six.
Schult was named the 2016 MVFC Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league in sacks and tackles for loss. His 17.0 sacks also led the country during the regular season, ranking him second at UNI in single-season sacks. He holds the school records for tackles for loss in a season (24.0 in 2016) and in a career (56.0).
On top of his player of the year honor, Schult has been named to the MVFC Scholar-Athlete first-team and All-MVFC first-team along with a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America first-team. He was named the Madness FCS Defensive Player of the Year and to the AP FCS All-America first-team, along with accepting an invitation to play in the 92nd East-West Shrine Game.
He is also one of three finalists for the Buck Buchanan Award that have been invited to the STATS FCS Awards Banquet. The winner of the award will be announced on Jan. 6.
