Taylor, Florman Start Strong at UNO Invite

OMAHA, Nebraska-- Katie Taylor, Crystal Florman and the UNI Swimming and Diving team had an outstanding start today at the Mutual of Omaha/UNO Invite. The Panthers lead all scores with 366 after day 1 of competition.
Taylor struck at the record boards, shattering her previous record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.33 and a first place finish.
Florman broke the record in the 100 butterfly, timing in at 55.52 for a first place finish.
The first place finishes kept on rolling in. Molly Lembezeder would nab a first place finish in the 50 freestyle, timing in at 23.45.
Lembezeder, Taylor, Florman and Moriah Ross would nab a first place finish in the 200 medley relay, timing in at 1:44.25.
Lembezeder and Florman would team up with Autumn Roepsch and Aftin Phyfe for a first place finish in the 200 freestyle, swimming to a time of 1:33.89.
Florman, Phyfe and Roepsch would take second, third and fourth place in the 50 freestyle. Florman timed in at 23.59, Phyfe with a time of 24.14 and Roepsch rounded out the group at 24.25.
Lembezeder grabbed a second place finish in the 100 butterfly, timing in at 56.66.
The Panthers would take second through sixth place in the 500 freestyle. Taylor led the Panthers, timing in at 5:02.43. Kylie Engstrom and Rachel Siebenaller would take third and fourth, with times of 5:05.88 and 5:07.78. Stephanie Jackson and Jordan McCullough would round the group out with respective times of 5:08.34 and 5:10.24.
Madison Rinaldi would lead the remaining Panthers in the 200 IM, timing in at 2:08.33 for a third place finish. Moriah Ross came in fourth at 2:08.36. Roepsch and Phyfe rounded out the group with times of 2:08.53 and 2:08.79.
Diving
Hannah Brummel took fourth place in the 3-meter diving, with a dive score of 239.90. Alyssa Deuso followed in fifth place, scoring a 230.30.
Action continues at 10 a.m., Friday, at the HPER Pool on the Nebraska-Omaha campus.
