UNI Names October Student-Athletes of the Month

This months' honorees are Amie Held (Festus, Mo.), Katie Taylor (Muskego, Wis.), Eli Dunne (Grinnell, Iowa) and Davis Sutton (Cedar Rapids, Iowa).
Amie Held - Volleyball
Held posted team-highs in kills (115), service aces (16) and double-doubles (6) as she helped the Panthers to a 9-1 mark in the month of October. Held had a month-high 20 digs in a 3-1 win over Indiana State (Oct. 3). Held secured 21 kills and 14 digs to close out the month at Missouri State (Oct. 29). She had two more more service aces in seven of the nine matches in October.
Katie Taylor - Swimming & Diving
Taylor is making a splash in the pool for the Panthers. At the lone home meet in October, Taylor continued to dominate in the pool, winning in the 100 backstroke and 500 freestyle events. Taylor swam times of 56.88 and 5:09.29, respectively. At Nebraska this past weekend, Taylor took first place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.54. Taylor took second in the 400 IM and 100 backstroke individually. Taylor swam a 56.86 in the 100 backstroke and a 4:31.52 in the 400 IM. Taylor would team up with Crystal Florman, Autumn Roepsch and Aftin Phyfe for a second place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, timing in at 1:36.97. Taylor and Florman would team up with Moriah Ross and Molly Lembezeder to take third place in the 400 medley relay, 3:51.31. At Nebraska-Omaha, Taylor kept her pace from the night before, grabbing first place finishes in the 200 freestyle, 200 IM and 200 backstroke. Taylor swam a 1:55.67 in the 200 freestyle, 2:09.22 in the 200 IM and swam a 2:04.48 in the 200 backstroke. Taylor would team up with Veronica Herrmann, Moriah Ross and Molly Lembezeder would bring home the first race in the 200 medley relay, timing in at 1:47.56.
Eli Dunne - Football
In just three games in the month of October, Eli Dunne recorded 671 passing yards on 48 completions for four touchdowns. He came in as the reliever against Youngstown State (10/15), going 3-for-6 for 37 yards, including a long of 31. In his starting debut against Missouri State (10/22), the Grinnell, Iowa, native racked up 418 yards on 25 completions and two touchdowns. It was the most yards a UNI quarterback has thrown for in a first start. It was also the first time a UNI quarterback had thrown for more than 400 yards since 2009. Dunne continued to show his athleticism in UNI's game against North Dakota State (10/29), taking some hard hits, but still able to throw for two touchdowns and 216 yards on 20 completions.
Davis Sutton - Golf
Sutton finished second overall at the Zach Johnson invitational, helping the Panthers to a fifth-place finish. He shot a team-low 70 in his first round, followed by rounds of 78 and 74. His second-place finish is the highest of the team this year.
