Rathje, Schult Named Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Seniors Karter Schult and Robert Rathje have been named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District teams, it was announced today.
The Academic All-District teams include student-athletes are divided into eight geographic districts across the United State and Canada, with UNI's two standout seniors landing in District 6. This is the sixth year of the expanded Academic All-America program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third- team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. Rathje and Schult are two of 25 student-athletes representing the District 6 Division I team, with both athletes majoring in movement and exercise science.
Rathje, a senior out of Van Horne, Iowa, earned MVFC Scholar-Athlete second-team in 2015 and is a two-time MVFC President's Academic Excellence Award winner. Schult, a Tripoli, Iowa, native, was a CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2015 after earning Academic All-District, first-team MVFC Scholar-Athlete and has won the President's Academic Excellence Award two years in a row.
Rathje and Schult join a long list of Panthers that have earned CoSIDA Academic All-District. Under the direction of UNI head coach Mark Farley, the Panthers have had 22 student-athlete selections to the All-District teams. Schult is the sixth UNI student-athlete under the direction of Farley to become a repeat honoree, joining Eddie Galles (2002, 2003), John Schabilion (2004, 2005), James Lindgren (2004, 2005, 2006), Josh Mahoney (2008, 2009) and Ben Boothby (2010, 2011).
