Records fall at Big Challenge, Diving wraps up at TYR

TOPEKA, Kansas--Records continue to fall at Day 2 of the Big Challenge for the UNI Swimming team. The Panthers are in fourth place after two days of competition.
Freshman Katie Taylor continued to polish her resume with multiple records falling today. Taylor broke the record in the four minutes, twenty-five seconds and thirty-three hundredths of a second in the 400 IM and an 8th place finish. Taylor breaks the 100 backstroke record with a time of 56.65, good for a 7th place finish.
Taylor, Moriah Ross, Crystal Florman and Molly Lembezeder teamed up for a 5th place in the 200 medley relay, timing in at 1:43.81.
Taylor and Lembezeder would team up with Rachel Siebenaller and Jordan McCullough for a 6th place finish in the 800 freestyle relay, with a time of 7:37.00.
Ross, Veronica Herrmann and Autumn Roepsch all had top-10 finishes in the 100 breaststroke, with times of 1:04.40, 1:04.33 and 1:04.59 respectively.
In the 100 butterfly, Crystal Florman misses her record by .07 but still grabs an 11th place finish with a 56.40.
Lembezeder gets a 12th place finish in the 200 freestyle, timing in at 1:53.01. Siebenaller followed in 16th place with a time of 1:55.28.
Stephanie Jackson grabbed a top-16 finish in the 400 IM with a time of 4:31.10.
"We're going to see a lot more of Katie throughout the season," remarked head coach Doug Humphrey. "Every single event has been personal or season best."
EVANSTON, Illinois-- The Diving squad finished up competition at the TYR Invite today.
Hannah Brummel led competition in the 1-meter diving, with a dive score of 180.55. Alyssa Deuso followed at 174 with Emma Billerbeck rounding out competition at 149 in the 1-meter competition.
