UNI Competes at Big Challenge, TYR; Records Fall

LAWRENCE, KANSAS-- The UNI Swimming team began action today at the Big Challenge, hosted by the University of Kansas.
Â
Freshman Katie Taylor put her name in the record books in the 200 IM, setting a new school record of two minutes, five seconds and thirty-two hundredths of a second. Taylor took seventh in the event.
Â
Molly Lembezeder took second in the 50 freestyle, swimming a time of 23.39. Crystal Florman took fifth place in the same race, timing in at 23.60.

Lembezeder and Florman would team up with Autumn Roepsch and Aftin Phyfe to take fourth in the 200 freestyle relay, timing in at 1:33.63. The UNI team was only a second behind Iowa State, who would take first place in the event.

Taylor, Florman, and Lembezeder would meet up with Moriah Ross for a fifth place finish in the 400 medley relay, nabbing a time of 3:45.83.

Rachel Siebenaller placed in the top-16 in the 500 freestyle, with a time of 5:00.20.
Â
Ross was in the top 16 of the 200 IM, timing in at 2:06.68.

EVANSTON, ILLINOIS-- The UNI Diving squad competed today at the TYR Invite, hosted by Northwestern.
Â
Hannah Brummel led the Panthers in the 3-meter diving competition, with a dive score of 198.75. Alyssa Deuso followed at 186 and Emma Billerbeck rounded out all scores with 153.10.

Diving will continue tomorrow at 9 a.m.
