Panthers Provide Senior Night Salute in 3-0 Sweep

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa volleyball squad saluted its five seniors on Saturday night in the best way possible - with a 3-0 sweep of the Bradley Braves. UNI won by set scores of 25-11, 25-19, 25-17.
UNI (21-8 overall, 12-4 MVC) notched the program's 23rd consecutive victory against Bradley and the 26th straight win over the Braves in matches contested in Cedar Falls. Bradley fell to 7-21 overall and 2-15 in league play.
Prior to the match, UNI honored its five seniors - Jaidyn Blanchfield, Amie Held, Ashlee Sinnott, Kayla Haneline and Lindsey Schulz. The seniors then went out and put on a show. Held secured her team-leading 16th double-double of the season with 15 kills and 13 digs. Schulz posted a team-best four blocks, including a trio of solo stuffs. Schulz also added six kills. Blanchfield knocked down three kills and added a dig. Sinnott recorded eight digs, while Haneline tallied eight kills, six digs and three blocks.
While the seniors were shining, it was a sophomore libero that also found the spotlight. Kendyl Sorge became the 16th Panther in the program's storied history to surpass the 1,000 dig mark. Sorge was credited with 19 digs and has 1,006 in her two-year career.
For the second straight night, UNI hit on the north side of .300 with a .302 hitting percentage against the Braves. UNI had 48 kills in the match and limited Bradley to 27. UNI's defensive also came up big with 64 digs and seven team blocks.
UNI will wrap up the regular season with a pair of road contests at Illinois State (Friday, 7 p.m.) and at Indiana State (Saturday, 6 p.m.). UNI will return to the McLeod Center to play host to the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Nov. 24-26.
NOTES: Head coach Bobbi Petersen moved to 30-5 all-time against Bradley ... UNI won its 12th MVC match of the season ... UNI has won 11 or more league matches in every MVC season since the league went to the home-and-home regular season schedule in 1992 ... UNI has won 11 of its last 12 matches this season.
