David Johnson, UNI's record holder for career and season rushing yards, has posted seven straight games with 100-plus yards from scrimmage in the NFL for the Arizona Cardinals. It is currently the longest active streak in the league. Johnson finished the Cardinals game on Sunday with 33 carries for 113 yards.
The Clinton, Iowa, native has eight rushing touchdowns in 2016, giving him 21 total touchdowns in his first 22 career games. It sets a new franchise record for a player in his first two seasons. Heading into week eight of the season, Johnson and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald have racked up 1,489 of the 2,655 offensive yards for the Cardinals this year, including 13 of its 19 touchdowns.
Austin Howard started his third game of the season on the offensive line on Sunday for the Oakland Raiders, helping them to 144 yards on the ground and no sacks allowed. Howard battled an injury early in the season, but has found his way to the top of the depth chart at right tackle.
