Updated Bracket
MINNEAPOLIS-- The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team advanced one player in singles and one set of players in doubles.
Jieke Stroobant defeated Carin Runefelt (Iowa) 3-6, 6-2, 1-0(10) in the consolation bracket. Stroobant moved past Julie Gauguery (Arkansas State) 6-4, 3-6, 1-0(3).
In doubles action, Astrid Santos and Elvira Lopez defeated Henne/Nelson (Creighton) 8-2. Santos and Lopez would post another victory over Reimchen/Thoms (Iowa) 8-3 to move into the quarterfinals.
Savanna Hunt and Gisela Kemper defeated Jaglarz/Sogard (Drake) 8-0. Hunt and Kemper would fall to McKenzie/McKenzie (St. Louis) 8-4.
Stroobant teamed up with Sydney Wolfe to defeat Kollarova/Bondarenko (South Dakota) 8-2. Stroobant and Wolfe would fall to Nikolaeva/Toran-Ribes (Kansas) 8-3.
Sunday's Action
Sunday will feature the doubles semifinal, singles quarterfinal and semifinal. Action will begin at 9 a.m.
