Three UNI Wrestlers Win Flanagan Open Titles

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Three UNI wrestlers earned titles and four more medaled today at the Pat Flanagan Open.
 
Jay Schwarm, Taylor Lujan and JJ Everard all won their weight classes.
 
At 125 pounds, Schwarm not only won the title, but he earned the fastest tech fall of the tournament with his 16-0 win over Ryan Schmalen of Upper Iowa in 2 minutes, 11 seconds. He also notched two major decisions and a decision.
 
It was Lujan's fourth medal of the year at 174 pounds. He has placed in four of the five tournaments he has competed in this season. He didn't place at Midlands Championships. He grabbed his sixth fall of the year today. He joins Trevor Jauch, Schwarm and Max Thomsen with the most pins on the team so far this season.
 
Everard notched his fastest career fall en route to winning his second heavyweight title of the year. He earned bonus points in every match. He won the Buena Vista Open earlier this season. Everard notched two major decision wins and a fall in 2:12
