Carnes Named MVC Track Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Junior sprint star Brandon Carnes has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced today.

Carnes continues to blaze through the competition this season, winning the 60 and 200 meter dashes at the Big 4 Duals on Saturday, Jan. 23.

He ran a time of 6.70 in the 60 meter dash finals, just off his school record time of 6.69. It was the second time this season he has run a 6.70 in the 60, putting himself at the top of the conference and ranked in the top-20 in Division I track and field.

The Bradenton, Fla. native also ran the 200 meters for the first time this season at the Big 4
Duals, turning in a time of 21.53, propelling him into first in the Valley. Carnes, an eight-time MVC Champion, has three athlete of the week selections under his belt, including two during the 2014-15 season.
