University of Northern Iowa junior guard Wes Washpun has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Washpun collected career-highs in points (28) and assists (11) in leading UNI to an 81-79 win over No. 5-ranked Iowa State at the Big Four Classic in Des Moines. Washpun drained all six of his first-half shots and led the Panthers with 17 first-half points. Washpun finished the game shooting 9-of-14 from the field, 8-of-10 at the line and 2-of-4 from three-point land. Washpun also led the Panthers with seven rebounds against the Cyclones.

Washpun has also been named the CollegeSportsMadness.com National High-Major Player of the Week.

UNI will be in action Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. (Hawaii time), taking on the Hawaii Rainbows in the 2015 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic. The game will be shown live on ESPNU.
