CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa has appointed a committee to conduct a national search for a new athletic director. Michael Hager, senior vice president of finance and operations, will serve as chair of the committee. The university plans to utilize the services of a search firm to support the search process.
Members of the search committee, in addition to Hager, include: Jerry Harris, former UNI student athlete and current COO of Western Home Communities; Jan Bittner, retired UNI volleyball coach and member of the UNI Foundation Board; Tatiana Rice, current UNI student athlete; Tanya Warren, UNI women's basketball head coach; John Fritch, dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences; Elaine Eshbaugh, NCAA faculty athletics representative; and Lisa Baronio, vice president for university advancement.
"This is a strong search committee with representation from key constituents around campus and the Cedar Valley community," said UNI President Bill Ruud. "I am confident they will find a successful candidate to continue the positive momentum of the athletic department."
Jean Berger is serving as UNI's interim director of athletics. She replaces Troy Dannen, who is leaving UNI to be the athletic director at Tulane University in New Orleans.
