Four Named To STATS FCS All-America Teams

STATS – The University of Northern Iowa football program was honored today after earning four spots on the STATS FCS All-America teams.
Senior Deiondre' Hall was named to the first-team, while Karter Schult and Brett McMakin both earned second-team honors. Senior cornerback and return specialist Makinton Dorleant was named to the third-team for his strong punt return game this season. Hall is the 17th player in UNI history named to the STATS FCS All-America first-team, formerly known as the Sports Network All-America team.
Hall, who was also named to the College Sports Madness All-America first-team, was selected as the Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year for his outstanding senior campaign. The Reese's Senior Bowl invitee finished the season with 82 tackles, a league-high six interceptions and two touchdowns. He finished his career at UNI ranked third among active career leaders in the FCS in interceptions.
Schult, a junior out of Tripoli, Iowa, racked up 14 sacks and a school record 22.5 tackles for loss, leading the league all season in both. The first-time All-American is ranked seventh in the FCS this season in sacks and No. 15 in tackles for loss, earning him first-team All-MVFC honors. The junior was also an Academic All-American and MVFC Scholar-Athlete this year.
McMakin led the team in tackles this season with 123, including 81 solo that puts him at No. 20 in the FCS and second in the Valley. This is McMakin's second All-America honor this season while also being named to the All-MVFC first-team. McMakin proved troublesome for opposing offenses this season, also notching 15.5 tackles for loss and a school-record tying six forced fumbles (No. 2 in the FCS).
Dorleant showed off his athleticism this season, doubling up as a cornerback and a punt return specialist. He is ranked No. 4 in the FCS in punt returns and punt return touchdowns after averaging 14.2 yards per carry and scoring a 90-yard punt return touchdown this season. He finished the season with 298 yards, ranking him 10th all-time at UNI.
